Description

Dabadu Games is a multi-awarded Barcelona-based indie game studio. We are aiming to make games that can be funny by themselves, without an excessive use of artifacts, coins, diamonds, time barriers or gamification add-ons. We are obsessed with finding out where the game stops being funny to play in order to adjust it. As a tiny team, we work almost handmade down to the last detail, so that’s why we like to call ourselves as “digital artisans”. We just love to make and play games.

History

Early history

The Eighties. A ZX Spectrum and two guys. They were brothers. The older, loves programming in BASIC, and in order not to be disturbed by the younger one, while he’s highly concentrated trying to get something moving on the screen, gives him a sheet of paper and a pencil. -Take it - he says -draw a dragon filling up the squares and I’ll put it in the game. Dabadu Games had just borned, but none of them knew it yet.

Thirty years later these two brothers, with a professional background in programming and user experience, decided to bring back dragons to life again.

After that

The first big opportunity arrived when Núria Trigueros, an educator interested in the great possibilities of videogames as a learning resource, joined the project. From this collaboration two educational games for kids were released: GardenLab and DisMonster. They were awarded twice in the International Festival “El Chupete” and achieved a lot of amazing positive reviews from the specialized press. Moreover, DisMonster has been featured in USA AppStore during several months (among other 156 countries).

Just now

While Núria is taking a break, in order to go further in her educational career, the two brothers, with the confidence given by the two released games, dare deal with the biggest dragon they’ve ever imagined: developing and publishing a game for all audiences. A game which is quite more personal and describes in a funny way how they are feeling right now, in the mid-life crisis. This game is It’s Full of Sparks.
